The new Paper Wallet version 0.4.0 is out now. In this version, we made the following changes:
- Updated dependency printpdf to 3.2
- Added Bip39 functionality:
– 24 word seed phrase is produced with each address/key - Added wallet recovery options:

– HDSeed wallet recovery - Added new Options:
– Disable Bip39 seed phrase and 64 byte seed to support pre-bip39 full node derivation path from HDSeed.

The discussion of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) is quickly gaining momentum and the realization that Bitcoin is a non-fungible surveillance tool is also spreading rapidly. Central to these is the idea of the Panopticon. Many of us have a general idea of what a Panopticon means, I believe only a few know of its origins and implications. Let’s take a look at how it came about and what was the rationale behind its design.
The notion for the Panopticon was conceived by Jeremy Bentham in 1798. The idea first originated from his brother Samuel Bentham, who came up with the “central inspection principle” for the supervision of unskilled laborers by professional craftsmen in Russia. Jeremy adapted his younger brother’s concept to his architectural design for an “inspection house,” known as the Panopticon. His first attempt at its construction was a contract for a prison. At the core of the Panopticon, Bentham sought to create a fundamental imbalance of power between the inmatees and their captors. To enforce this power dynamic, he envisaged a circular structure, with multiple floors of prisoners’ cells built around the wall, and a central focus dominated by an inspection tower.
The Panopticon prison was designed to inspire fear. Jeremy Bentham describes this as “a new mode of obtaining power of mind over mind.” The uniqueness of this design is achieved through two intertwined elements. First is the ease of prison guards in monitoring all the prisoners without being seen thus disempowering the prisoners of their privacy and value of self-sovereignty. Second, and perhaps the more detrimental factor, is the idea of “seeing without being seen”, thus imposing a sense of constant surveillance.
The socioanthropological outcome from the constant overbearing fear of surveillance is multifaceted. The imprisonment quickly changes from a physical to an internalized state. Prisoners begin to discipline themselves because they fear that a guard may be watching.
This idea of power through control has guided much of human history. Today, when cameras are around, people tend to regulate and alter their behavior. This happens subconsciously once they become aware that they are being watched. Self-regulation occurs in these situations because they feel the need to conform to norms or be punished if they fail to do so. Just as the fear of implied surveillance altered the behavior of the prisoners, public citizens who feel that they are being constantly monitored whether they are or not, will curtail their actions.
Although Bentham proposed the panopticon for prisons and insane asylums, but most importantly, he intended it for schools, as an incomparable tool of social and psychological conditioning.
The power of surveillance afforded to those with means by Bitcoin is an early supposition of CBDCs. Both are immensely powerful tools not only to monitor financial habits, but more importantly, to impose the fear of monitoring in order to enforce a culture of conformity. PIRATE gives financial freedom to all!
I just want to get a message out there to my fellow Pirate Chain supporters. One of the reasons why thousands of us have invested into the Pirate Chain is because it is one of the top privacy coins out there today. It is the coin of the future because it offers a level of privacy and security that we can’t find anywhere else today for our currency. Everything that has been going on today with government regulations and failing economies has made it all the more clear that we need to have control over our money, and the Pirate Chain coin allows us to do that while still retaining the highest level of security. Though we have faced some turbulent waters with the Pirate Chain coin, we can still pull through this with our loot, our coins, intact and its value thriving if we take the right actions.
We need to ensure that we are not contributing to the undervaluing of the coin. Even when it reached a high of $17 USD, that was still a much lower value than what a coin of this magnitude is worth. If we truly would like to see this coin reach its fullest potential, then, for those of us who have it in our investments, we need to stop underselling it. I realize that for investment purposes you will get buying and selling on an ongoing basis and will always see highs and lows, but we should always do a correction above our last high. We need to get this coin back up and above $17, and we can do that by making sure that we are not underselling it.
We also need to make sure that we are spreading the word. Tell friends and family, share it on social media, and do whatever you can to let people know the potential of this coin and what it can do for our futures. Let people know that the value of this coin rests not only in investments, but in retaining rights over our money – how much we have and where we choose to spend it.
In the last few weeks there seems to be a lot of mention of a peer review audit for the Pirate Chain coin. I understand why so many people want to get it done, since it adds further credibility to the coin. However, I do think it is important to realize that, as the Pirate Chain team have indicated in last week’s video, the peer review takes time and has a high cost associated with it. They are currently working hard to get it done and are working on a means to fund it. They continue to work diligently to ensure that the ARRR coin continues to employ the latest technology for security and privacy.
I will admit that it would be nice if every representative of the Pirate Chain team spoke with the same level of enthusiasm, knowledge, and respect for the community. I think it is important that all members of the team address the concerns of the community with patience and understanding of all of the issues. Thousands of people have put everything they have into this coin because they believe in its potential. Most members of the team are articulate and understanding, and it would be great if all of them underwent some sort of evaluation to ensure that they are improving with each meeting or discussion.
In regards to the code, it is available for all to see on the website, for anyone who is looking to find out more information. You can see for yourself everything this coin has going for it.
The team continues to work hard, and we can do our part too by spreading the word and not underselling it, as I have mentioned. It will always be the best privacy coin out there. Hold on to your treasure, Pirates, and let the value drive back up again. As we continue to navigate the seas with our coin, we can see the glimmer of more amazing things in the future.
