wallet support questions

We Recommend to install the full node wallet https://pirate.black/wallets/treasure-chest/

Pirate provides several wallet options for different needs. The Treasure Chest wallet secures your funds by managing the Pirate blockchain on your computer.

The Lite wallet uses an offsite blockchain and is ideal for computers with lower resources.

A full node wallet occupies about 10GB of disk space.

First things first, you should always back up your private key. To find it, go to your receiving addresses, right click on your z-address (every single z-address has it's own private key) and click export private key.

This will bring up a screen where you can copy it and save it. It is highly recommended that you Encrypt the wallet and save it on a USB drive that you never plug in unless you need to retrieve your private key.

There is little to no compromise on anonymity. There is a small amount of metadata leakage to the insight server. The insight server will know the IP address associated with wallet transactions, based on the witnesses requested by the wallet.

However, using a VPN would protect the user against that leakage.

You can download the bootstrap file for the Pirate Chain wallets here:

https://eu.bootstrap.dexstats.info/ARRR-bootstrap.tar.gz

Whilst this is best practice with other coins due to the anonymity features of ARRR you do not have to do this.

Of course exceptions apply, especially in the case when you have used an address to send funds to an exchange or posted it anywhere online. In these cases we do recommend generating a new address.

Please note, that by having too many addresses in a wallet holding ARRR, you are likely to negatively impact the performance of that wallet.

Is possible to sync faster by using the Bootstrap

(GUI)

  • Click on Settings option
  • Click on the Wallet tab
  • Use the Reindex and Rescan with bootstrap option.

Yes, if you prefer running your wallet with the command line, the updated instructions can be found here: Run Pirate using CLI

You do so by sending a DM to the "@ARRR TipBot" in Discord.

Then type the command !arrrtip withdraw yourtreasurechestaddress amount

If unsure use also !arrrtip help for a full list of commands.

The default transaction fee for the  Treasure Chest wallet is 0.0001 ARRR.

Exchanges have their own fee structure, which is out of the control of the Pirate Chain team.

A spending key is also known as the private key.

The spending key (private key) contains all your wallet addresses, transactions and funds.
